Coffee with the Chief provides residents an opportunity to personally meet with Chief of Police, James Black, and other Police Department staff in a friendly, casual, and informal setting. Residents learn about current crime-related topics and have a chance to discuss other community interest topics. Coffee with the Chief occurs on a quarterly basis. The events, held at Crystal Lake's City Hall, are typically an hour in length.
Previous Coffee with the Chief topics include: the dangers and criminal aspects of “sexting” and “cyber bullying”, criminal aspects of gypsy scams, ruse burglaries, and home repair fraud; illicit drug use by high school students; crime prevention through environmental design; and cyber threats and security.
