The Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Fire Experience 

The Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department is dedicated to providing an elite fire department for the Crystal Lake community through its service, commitment, and dedication to pursuing excellence.  Our firefighters are all full-time staff members, working out of three fire stations.  The department responded to 7,862 calls to service in 2025. Our department maintains several specialty teams, including Technical Rescue, Hazardous Materials, Dive Rescue, and Sonar.

The following are some of the minimum requirements an applicant must possess to receive an offer of employment at the Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department:

  • U.S. citizen
  • No felony convictions
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to speak, read, & write English
  • Must be 21 years of age by date of hire & under 35 at time of application deadline
  • Valid candidate physical ability test (CPAT), including ladder climb
  • EMT license at time of application
  • Paramedic certified by date of hire
