2019 Heritage Trolley Tour - June 9th!
Every year the Crystal Lake Historic Preservation Commission creates a new trolley tour highlighting local history.
On Sunday, June 9th, the trolley will visit the neighborhoods around the blocks of Caroline Street and Walkup Avenue from 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM. This year's tour starts and ends at City Hall! The 45-minute trolley tour will present the unique history, architecture, and people that lived in these homes. The tours sell out quickly, so get your tickets early and join us for this annual event.
Timed, round-trip tickets are now available for $12 at Heisler’s Bootery, 50 N. Williams Street. On the day of the tour, any remaining tickets will be available for $15 at City Hall.
The Annual Heritage Tour is a celebration of a designated neighborhood's history and architecture. Each subsequent year, the tour stitches together another piece of Crystal Lake's history, the long term goal being to assemble a comprehensive history of the City. Past tour booklets are available for sale at the ticket booth or for reference at the public library.
Revenue generated by the tour is the single source of revenue for the Commission. The money is used throughout the year for preservation activities and for funding the grant program. If you would like to volunteer or see a particular neighborhood featured in next year's Heritage Tour, join us at one of our monthly meetings on the first Thursday of the month at the 7:30 PM at the Municipal Complex or email Elizabeth Maxwell.
