November 7, 2018: The work on the Mary Lane Storm Sewer is substantially complete. A kickoff meeting is scheduled with Hampton, Lenzini and Renwick on November 8 to initiate design engineering of the new upsized storm sewer along Union Street around College Avenue.
October 31, 2018: Minor work remains on the Mary Lane Storm Sewer including restoration.
October 24, 2018: Construction is substantially complete with the new storm sewer being installed the week of October 22. Minor work remains including restoration.
October 18, 2018: Union Street between Eugene Street and Mary Lane is scheduled to be closed Monday, October 22, 2018, from approximately 7:00 AM through 6:00 PM to facilitate water main relocation. Mary Lane will remain open.
October 17, 2018: The contractor started work the week of October 15.
October 10, 2018: The City anticipates commencing work in the next few weeks to add storm sewer at the intersection of Mary Lane and Union Street.
September 26, 2018: The bid award for the Mary Lane at Union Street project is scheduled for approval at the October 2, 2018, City Council meeting.
August 29, 2018: The design for the new storm sewer at the intersection of Mary and Union is complete. Bids for the construction will be opened on September 12.
June 14, 2018: HR Green has been selected to complete the design for the installation of new storm sewer at the intersection of Mary and Union. A kick-off meeting was held with HR Green on June 14.
September 7, 2017: City staff met with the Union Street Study Area. Meeting minutes are available here.
July 31, 2017: Letters were mailed to all residents in the study area inviting them to the open house.
July 18, 2017: City council presentation to review the stakeholder engagement process to review and refine improvements to reduce the risk of flooding.
June/July 2017: City experienced successive and excessive rain events leading to the total rainfall for June and July of almost 20 inches, over double the normal average.
Fall/Winter 2014: The existing drywells throughout the area were cleaned and a column drain installed in the bottom to further assist in water going into the ground in this area.
2013-2014: An analysis of how to improve the drainage in the area was completed by the City’s stormwater consultant.
This area was developed at two different times. The streets in the western portion near McHenry Avenue were laid out in the 1920s as part of the Uteg subdivision. The streets in this section include College, 1st Court, 2nd Court, Uteg, and Wallace Avenue.
The eastern portion was developed as the Colby subdivision in the 1950s. The street in this section includes Jackman, Harold, Mary, Keith, and Eugene.
