The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) has issued guidance for drivers to complete their vehicle emissions test at the appropriate time in order to reduce wait times. The Illinois Secretary of State has extended vehicle registration renewals without penalty for 90 days. Drivers are recommended to follow the testing schedule below based on the date of their registration expiration.

 Registration Expiration  Suggested Test Month
May 2020 or Earlier  Test in July 2020
June 2020  Test in August 2020
July 2020  Test in August 2020

Testing can be completed at the Crystal Lake Vehicle Emissions Testing Station at 195 Liberty Road.

Emissions testing employees will follow all CDC recommended guidelines, including social distancing requirements and the wearing of face masks. Testing stations will be cleaned regularly. Motorists are asked to wear face coverings, do not visit a facility if you are exhibiting Covid-19 symptoms, and please have only one occupant in the vehicle when completing the test.
