Crystal Lake Couple Charged with Unlawful Delivery of a Controlled Substance
Crystal Lake, IL – Two people have been charged in connection with possessing with the intent to deliver cocaine in the McHenry County area. On 10/23/2019 at approximately 8:45 PM, the Crystal Lake Police Department, working in collaboration with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the McHenry County Sheriff’s Department, executed a residential search warrant in the 500 block of Darlington Lane, resulting in the seizure of cocaine.
This couple were persons of interest during an ongoing joint narcotics investigation which began in March 2019, and lead to the identification of the arrestees. A search warrant for the residence was subsequently obtained and executed by members of our Department, the DEA Rockford Resident Office and the McHenry County Sheriff’s Department. As a result, Carmen J. Gutierrez (44) of 576 Darlington Lane Unit #3, Crystal Lake and Angelica Sotelo –Torres (42) of same address, were arrested. During the search, officers discovered more than 280 grams of cocaine within the residence, having a street value of $22,640.00. Carmen J. Gutierrez and Angelica Sotelo-Torres were each charged with the following offenses:
- Unlawful Delivery of Controlled Substance
- 720 ILCS 570/401(a)(2)(b), a Class X Felony
- Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance
- 720 ILCS 570/402(b), a Class 1 Felony
Both Gutierrez and Torres were later confined at the McHenry County Jail in Woodstock, where they currently remain in custody with their bond each set at $150,000.00. Their next court date is scheduled for October 28th, 2019, at 9:00 AM. The drug investigation continues.
