*UPDATED* Crystal Lake Police Arrest Offender in Stabbing Incident
Crystal Lake, IL – At approximately 7:29 PM, the Crystal Lake Police Department responded to the 100 block of Edgewood Avenue for a report of three people with stab wounds. Once on scene officers located two adult male victims who were suffering from stab wounds to the abdomen and a third adult male with minor lacerations to his arm. Crystal Lake Fire Rescue responded and provided emergency medical care to the victims. The two male victims with lacerations to the abdomen were both transported by ambulance to an area hospital for further treatment. The third male victim was released from care at the scene.
The offender fled the scene prior to police arrival, however responding units quickly located the offender, a 42-year-old male resident of Rockton, and took him into custody without incident.
As a result of the investigation, Charles A Hightower (Rockton, IL) was charged with:
- 2 counts of Attempted Murder
- 720 ILCS 5/9-1(a)(1), a class X felony
- 1 count of Aggravated Battery
- 720 ILCS 5/12-03.05(a)(1), a class 3 felony
Hightower was transported to McHenry County Jail to await a bond hearing. The two victims remain hospitalized, both stable but in critical condition. No further information is available at this time. This was an isolated incident related to a domestic issue. There is no danger to the public. This case remains an active investigation.
