Structure Fire - 319 Richmond Ln. Lakewood, IL
Crystal Lake, IL – At 11:56 AM, the Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department was dispatched to the report of a structure fire at 319 Richmond Lane in Lakewood, IL. At 12:00 PM, the first arriving Crystal Lake Fire Rescue unit reported a fire on the outside of the house adjacent to the natural gas service meter. No occupants were home at the time of the 911 call.
Fire crews quickly extinguished the fire on the outside and then made entry into the home to check for fire spread. Crews found the fire did extend into a first floor laundry room and smoke had spread through the first floor and attic. A thorough investigation was made of the home for any hidden fires. Nicor and ComEd were called to the scene. Nicor determined there was an underground leak before the homes gas meter and were scheduling additional crews to make repairs. Nicor arrived on scene and gas to the residence was cut off. A representative from the Lakewood Building Department was also contacted to inspect the damage. A damage assessment is not yet available.
Crystal Lake fire investigators were working with Nicor in an attempt to determine what started the fire. The cause of the fire is undetermined and is under investigation at the time of this release. The fire was declared under control at 12:31 pm. There were no injuries to firefighters.
McHenry Township Fire Protection District, Algonquin/Lake in the Hills Fire Department, and Lakewood Police also assisted at the scene.
