Structure Fire - 2812 Skyline Dr.
Crystal Lake, IL - The Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department responded to the report of a structure fire called in by the homeowner at 6:30 AM. The homeowner’s initial report was that the house was struck by lightning and there was now a fire coming from a damaged natural gas line in the fireplace on the second floor. The two occupants that were home at the time, exited the home upon the fire departments arrival. Initial reports by the first arriving fire engine stated that there was no smoke or fire seen. The first arriving units investigated and reported a fire in the wall above the second floor fireplace. The fire was extinguished using hose-lines from one fire engine.
The fire was quickly extinguished with moderate fire and smoke damage to the structure. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department. There were no injuries to any of the firefighters or occupants. The estimated damage is approximately $25,000.
Additional units from Algonquin/Lake in the Hills, Nunda Rural, McHenry Township, Huntley, Woodstock, Wonder Lake, Cary, Carpentersville, Barrington/Countryside, Marengo, and West Dundee Fire Departments assisted.
