Structure Fire – 959 Wedgewood Drive

PRESS RELEASE

(Structure Fire – 959 Wedgewood Drive)

 

On August 20, 2018 at 9:11 AM, the Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department responded for a report of a structure fire at 959 Wedgewood Drive.  Initial arriving crews reported smoke coming from the eaves of the two-story residence.   The residence was not sprinklered; however, smoke detectors were activated.  The first arriving crew removed dogs from the residence while engine companies deployed two hoselines into the building for suppression and searched for occupants. 

The fire was quickly extinguished and fire damage was limited to the attic and second story. The cause of the fire is under investigation. There were no injuries to any firefighters or pets. The estimated damage is $80,000.

Additional units from Algonquin/Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District, Harvard Fire Protection District, Huntley Fire Protection District, Lake Zurich Fire Department, Marengo Fire Protection District, McHenry Township Fire Protection District, Nunda Rural Fire Protection District, Spring Grove Fire Protection District, Wauconda Fire Department, and Wonder Lake Fire Protection District assisted at the scene.  Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department investigators were assisted with additional investigators from Algonquin/Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District, Crystal Lake Police Department, Huntley Fire Protection District, Nunda Rural Fire Protection District, and the Office of the State Fire Marsha
