Crystal Lake, Illinois, located 50 miles northwest of Chicago, is a short drive from O'Hare International Airport, near several major highways and interstates. The Union Pacific rail line provides easy access to Chicago. As a result, Crystal Lake residents enjoy the many employment, cultural and recreational opportunities of a major metro city, yet live in a pleasant, friendly, small-town atmosphere.

The City of Crystal Lake is fortunate to have two Metra train stations (Downtown and Pingree Road) within our corporate limits, as well as the MCRide dial-a-ride Pace bus service. Information regarding these services can be found below:

Reduced Fare Program

Senior citizens aged 65 or over living in Crystal Lake can qualify for a reduced fare transit card on fixed routes operated by the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA), Metra, and Pace.

You can apply for a Senior Reduced Fare Card at Senior Services Associates, 110 W Woodstock St, Crystal Lake, IL 60014.  To find out how you can apply for a reduced fare card please contact the Senior Services Associates at 815-356-7457.
