The Historic Preservation Commission is made up of members who are dedicated to preserving Crystal Lake's history.  They attend and support many activities throughout the city and surrounding areas.

Every year the Historic Preservation Commission conducts a Heritage Trolley Tour that takes riders back in time to visit significant places in the history of our community. The 2016 tour will highlight the area of Crystal Lake's original settlement near present day Route 14 and Dole Avenue. The tour will be held on Sunday, June 12 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Each trolley ride is approximately 45 minutes and allows riders to hear the history of local families, churches, and businesses. The trolleys will board at the Downtown Crystal Lake gazebo at 70 E. Woodstock St. Ticket holders will also receive a keepsake tour book full of vintage photos and fascinating facts. Don't be left behind, purchase tickets at Heisler's Bootery beginning May 14, 2016. If you have any questions, please call 815-479-0835.

The Crystal Lake Historical Society hosts many events at the Colonel Palmer House.  Check back here for further information.
