Public Works Superintendent
Sewer and Lifts Division

The City of Crystal Lake, Illinois has an immediate opening for a Superintendent in our Public Works Sewer and Lifts Division. We seek a team player to provide professional leadership to the employees in this division and to be an integral member of the Public Works leadership team.  Work involves responsibility for scheduling, planning, repair and maintenance services for our lift stations and storm sewers. The Superintendent will be responsible for coordinating work assignments; projects, supervising and inspecting the work of the Division’s Supervisor, collection operators, J.U.L.I.E. locators, and assigned Maintenance Workers. Position must ensure that work is performed safely, efficiently, and effectively, in accordance with standard practices and procedures. Work is performed under the general direction of the Public Works Director.
 
Qualified candidates must have strong verbal/written communication skills as well as demonstrated leadership skills and be able to coordinate projects from inception to completion. Requirements: Graduation from high school supplemented by two years of college-level courses in public administration, business administration, or a related field; thorough experience in public works, facilities operations and/or maintenance work including considerable supervisory experience; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.  Illinois Class “B” Commercial driver’s license, with appropriate endorsements required.

Solid understanding of desktop and handheld computers and Microsoft Office suite programs is required. School Crossing Guards

The City of Crystal Lake has openings for School Crossing Guards at Coventry and West Elementary Schools.  The Coventry Elementary School crossing is at Berkshire and Nottingham.  The West Elementary School crossing is at Briarwood and the park entrance.  Substitute Crossing Guard positions are also available.  Substitute positions must be able to work at all Crystal Lake school locations.   Hours for all positions are before and after school (typically 8:15 a.m. to 8:55 a.m. and 3:25 p.m. to 3:55 p.m.).  Pay rate is $19.57 per day.  Must be reliable, have good communication skills and a professional demeanor.  Applicants are also required to pass a criminal background check.
