Annual Heritage Tour is held on the second Sunday of June.
2013 Heritage Trolley Tour June 9th! Come out and experience the fun!
Where in Crystal Lake can you find an antique Chicago street lamp? What part of town was known as Swedenberg? Which house was home to a family with 14 children? Hop aboard a trolley with the Crystal Lake Historic Preservation Commission and find out. On Sunday, June 9th, the commission’s 16th annual heritage tour will take passengers back in time to visit the former community of Swedenberg. Timed, round-trip tickets are now available for ten dollars at Heisler’s Bootery, 50 N. Williams Street. On the day of the tour, any remaining tickets will be sold at the downtown Crystal Lake gazebo. Trolleys will depart from the gazebo every half hour from 10 AM to 2 PM. Tour participants will also receive a keepsake booklet of fascinating facts and vintage photos. Purchase tickets early so you aren’t left behind! Questions? Call 815.479.0835.
The Annual Heritage Tour is a celebration of a designated neighborhood's history and architecture. Each subsequent year, the tour stitches together another piece of Crystal Lake's history, the long term goal being to assemble a comprehensive history of the City. Past tour booklets are available for sale at the ticket booth or for reference at the public library. Revenue generated by the tour is the single source of revenue for the Commission. The money is used throughout the year for preservation activities and for funding the grant program. If you would like to volunteer or see a particular neighborhood featured in next year's Heritage Tour, join us at one of our monthly meetings on the first Thursday of the month at the 7:30 pm at the Municipal Complex or email email@example.com.
