You may have witnessed the City's contractors working along Virginia Street on February 6th removing the decorative lighting fixtures. As part of the City's routine and scheduled inspection of our lighting infrastructure, an issue with the performance of the hardware was identified. Due to the severe winter storm that is predicted for February 7th, combined with the results of the lighting inspection, the City is taking an abundance of precaution and temporarily removing the street light arms and fixtures.
The City is working with the manufacturer to ensure that the equipment provided is reliable and safe under various weather conditions. We are working to restore the street lighting in the Virginia Street Corridor as soon as possible.
