Fleet & Facility Services Division

Our goal is to support each department by providing effective and efficient service, preventative maintenance, repairs, and technical assistance necessary to the Municipal Complex and all City vehicles and equipment, while optimizing the useful life and reducing downtime.

The Fleet and Facility Services Division is responsible for an extensive variety of services within the City of Crystal Lake. Such services include, but are not limited to, the maintenance, service and repair of approximately 355 vehicles and pieces of equipment, averaging 300 service requests monthly. Additionally, the Division monitors and performs preventative maintenance on all City equipment, coordinates out sourced repairs, prepares new vehicle for duty, repairs damage cause be extensive use of equipment, and disposes and replaces surplus equipment. The Division works with other City departments to write bid specifications for replacement vehicles and equipment necessary to perform the varied requirements of their specific department. The Division secures titles and licensing of vehicles, monitors and maintains an inventory of fuel, lubricants, and commonly used repair parts, and maintains the City's fuel dispensing system. The Division coordinates the annual testing of fire pumps, aerial ladders, and ground ladders.

The Facility side of the Division also performs maintenance, service, and repairs necessary to the daily operations of the Municipal Complex. These services include, but are not limited to, the maintenance, service, and repairs of the mechanical system, including HVAC systems, steam boilers, landscape sprinkler systems, backup generators, elevators, overhead garage doors, and the fire alarm system.
