Street Division: Diseased Tree Ordinance

City Parkways, Parks & Other Public Areas:

  • When trees in these areas become infected with parasitic insects, it is City policy to remove or dispose of the dying tree to prevent the spread of disease or insect to adjacent foliage.

Private Property:

  • Similarly, it is the property owner’s responsibility to care for trees on private property.
  • When private trees become diseased by Dutch Elm Disease or Emerald Ash Borers, Crystal Lake’s Diseased Tree Ordinance outlines the responsibility of the property owner to properly dispose of the infected tree.
