The Crystal Lake area experienced some of the heaviest rainfall totals in its recorded history in the summer of 2007. Because of heavy rain totals and saturated ground conditions, several areas in the City experienced issues with flooding. In October 2008, the City chose Hey and Associates to study the drainage issues and provide recommendations on how to mitigate future flooding.

Hey and Associates completed their analysis of all the data and produced the Flooding Study report, which can be accessed below. The report examines the possible causes of the flooding and provides possible recommendations on how to mitigate future flooding.

In June of 2013, Crystal Lake experienced another severe rain event. As a result, the City is currently reviewing additional flood-prone areas.

The study and its exhibits are available by following links below. It is also available at the Crystal Lake Public Library for viewing.
