All communications should go between this individual and Building plans examiner assigned to the project.
It is important to be clear as to the scope of the proposed work. Detailed plans are essential for a timely permit review. Approval from the property owner is needed, either by signing the application itself or by submittal of an owner signed contract for the work.
Please submit the application for permit before you begin your project to avoid any unnecessary delay or fines.
Fire Sprinkler Systems
On June 17, 2008 the City Council adopted new building codes for governing construction in the City. One of the key life safety changes involved with this adoption was an amendment to the 2006 International Building & Fire Code that requires automatic fire sprinkler systems for all new commercial buildings. It is also required for additions and alterations when they are over 5,000 square feet. The Fire Prevention Bureau has additional information on this requirement.
