Planning
& Zoning Commission
The Planning
& Zoning Commission consists of nine Crystal Lake residents.
Commissioners are volunteers appointed by the Mayor and confirmed
by the City Council. They review development proposals and make
an advisory recommendation to the City Council. The Commission
meets on the first and third Wednesday of the month.
Scheduling
Petitions
Staff will coordinate the dates of meetings at which a project
will be presented for review to the Planning & Zoning Commission.
An item will not be placed on an agenda for consideration unless
all plans and documents have been submitted within the time periods
outlined in the Development Application packet.
A Project Review
(Staff Report) is prepared by staff for use by the Planning & Zoning
Commission and the City Council. The Project Review outlines the
request and includes staff's recommendations for approval or denial
and any recommended conditions.
Preparing for
a Presentation
The following information is provided to assist the petitioner
in preparing an effective presentation.
- Consult the
Planning & Economic Development Department about the request
to learn about the approval process.
- Carefully
review the Project Review to understand the conditions of approval
and to clarify any questions with staff.
- Prepare a
brief and complete presentation that discusses the intent of
the proposed project and be prepared to answer any questions
that the Planning & Zoning Commission or City Council may have.
- Organize any
consultants and individuals that will present information or
be present to answer questions at the meeting.
- Use visual
aids whenever possible to make a proposal more effective and
more easily understandable. Contact staff for availability of
the necessary equipment (including Power Point), or arrange to
bring you own to the meetings.
