Structure Fire - 191 W.Virginia St., Crystal Lake, IL
Crystal Lake - On December 30, 2017 at 4:21 PM, the Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department responded to the report of a commercial structure on fire at 191 W. Virginia St. in Crystal Lake. Multiple calls from people driving by reported smoke coming from the building via 911. The first engine to arrive on the scene at 4:24 PM reported thick black smoke coming from the building. The fire appears to have originated in an office on one end of the building. The fire was deemed under control at 5:44 PM.
There were no civilian or firefighter injuries at the scene. Total amount of damage is estimated to be in excess of $175,000. The City of Crystal Lake Building Department responded to the scene and deemed the structure uninhabitable until repairs are made. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
