Structure Fire – 191 Eastview Ave.

On October 7, 2017 at 1:18 PM, the Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department responded for a reported fire in a residence at 191 Eastview Avenue. At 1:23 PM, first arriving fire department units reported smoke coming from the attic area of the residence. While fire crews prepared to attack the fire, two dogs were rescued from the home by Crystal Lake police officers. The dogs were treated for smoke inhalation with oxygen and were released to their owners. Unfortunately, one cat perished in the fire and two others are missing. There was no one home at the time of the fire.

The fire was declared under control at 1:50 PM.  The cause of the fire is under investigation. Fire investigators believe the fire started in the kitchen. The home has been deemed uninhabitable due to smoke and heat damage.  The estimated damage to the structure and contents is $60,000. There were no injuries to firefighters or police officers.

Additional units from Algonquin/Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District and McHenry Township Fire Protection District assisted at the scene while Barrington-Countryside Fire Protection District, Huntley Fire Protection District and Carpentersville Fire Department assisted with covering other 911 calls.
